We know almost everyone in the world is on Facebook but how many of us Tweet? I’ve been on Twitter for 2 years now and Im here to tell you – it’s not big in Canada.

It was announced this week that Lady GaGa has broken a record by having the most followers, she has over 10,000,000 – more than Justin Bieber, who is second on the list with 9,676,467 and Barack Obama who has 8,025,827 and sits in third spot.

Someone asked the other day – does it take away the specialness of the celebrities who tweet all the time compared to an air of mystery by those who keep their business more private? I think it does, we tend to know more than we need to know about our fav’s. We don’t need to know every move they make nor do most of us care. On the plus side – we can speak directly to our Idol’s and Favorite Celebrities and often times they will answer you back.

From a promotional point of view – Twitter is the perfect outlet. You can tweet about your product or website and your followers can then Retweet it out to their followers and so on and so on. I have several accounts for several different websites and facebook pages – all in all I have over 5000 followers and use twitter to promote from most of them.

Through sites like Twitter – we are able to voice our disagreements, frustrations and concerns about a particular topic or situation. There are so many Celebrities, Major Corporations and Politicians on twitter, if nothing else – it gives ordinary people a voice where we were never able to be heard before.
